Mark Prator is a veteran recording engineer, producer, and drummer whose work has helped shape the sound of Tampa’s iconic metal and rock scene. With a career spanning more than three decades, Mark blends deep musical experience with technical mastery, earning a reputation as one of the region’s most trusted and versatile audio professionals.
Mark began his career as the drummer for Autodrive before joining the engineering team at the legendary Morrisound Recording in the early ’90s. Since then, he has contributed to hundreds of albums as an engineer, mixer, producer, and session drummer. His credits include influential releases from Obituary, Iced Earth, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Monstrosity, Vital Remains, Kamelot, Kreator, Circle II Circle, and many others.
As a performer, Mark has toured internationally with Sebastian Bach of Skid Row, Mike Tramp of White Lion, and Scottish neo-prog icon Fish. He has also been the longtime drummer and percussionist for guitarist John Wesley. Mark is currently touring as the front of house engineer for Vertical Horizon and Obituary.
Known for his precision, creativity, and musical intuition, Mark brings a unique combination of performance insight and studio expertise to every project. Whether behind the console or behind the kit, he is dedicated to capturing powerful, authentic sound, and helping artists realize their vision.
